
Annette Pensel is the Director of Sustainability Innovations at the 4C Association. Annette oversees the Broader Sustainability Agenda of 4C’s platform, and steers Business Development and the regional team in coffee producing countries.
Annette has nine years of experience in the international coffee sector and in the field of cooperation development, including corporate sustainability, voluntary standards development and capacity building. She has worked in public-private partnerships in Latin America and internationally with different companies. Having joined 4C during its project phase in 2004, Annette’s main focus was to set up the verification system and the international support platform.
In her time with the 4C Association, Annette has worked and lived in Africa, Latin America and South East Asia building up the 4C Association’s network, structures and services at origin. Annette has established excellent relationships with all stakeholders in the coffee industry ranging from coffee growers to private sector representatives to NGO, donor and government representatives .
Fluent in German, English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, Annette graduated from University of Cologne, Germany, and Tucuman (Argentina) in Economics, Political Science and Latin American studies. Annette is now based in Bonn, Germany.
